WCHS Basketball
Jay Walker Tuesday January 16, 2018

Warren County and Rhea County split their district doubleheader Monday night at Charlie Dalton Gym.
In girls' action, the Lady Eagles of Rhea County defeated the Lady Pioneers 82-59. Warren County was led by Tyra Wright with 19 points.
In the boys' game, the Pioneers picked up their second straight district win with an 80-67 decision over the Golden Eagles. The Pioneers were led by Chance Hobbs with 28 points. Isaiah Grayson had 17 and Irving Espinoza scored 14.
Warren County travels to Cookeville for another district matchup Friday night.

The Warren County Commission's Policy and Personnel Committee will meet Tuesday evening to discuss Audit Committee appointments.
The meeting will begin at 6pm prior to the full commission meeting.

The full Warren County Commission will meet Tuesday night for its monthly session. The January meeting is on Tuesday because of the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday.
Commissioners will consider a resolution to convey the land upon which the WCMS sits to the Warren County Board of Education. Commissioners will also consider appointments to various committees.
Tuesday night;s meeting will begin at 6:30 at the Administrative Building.

 


MPD Participating in S.A.F.E. Campaign
Monday January 15, 2018

McMinnville Police are partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for its fifth annual Seatbelts Are For Everyone, or SAFE, campaign. This statewide initiative is designed to increase seatbelt usage and child passenger safety restraint usage through the implementation of occupant-protection programs, public events, and checkpoints throughout local communities in Tennessee. The SAFE campaign will begin Feb. 1st and will conclude Aug. 1st.
Last year's campaign yielded 1,480 child restrain violations, 16,571 seat belt violations and 835 other seat belt enforcement activities.

The Warren County Pioneers and Lady Pioneers will host Rhea County Monday night in a district doubleheader that was moved up due to the possibility of wintry weather Tuesday.
The girls' game will tip off at 5pm Monday evening at Charlie Dalton Gymnasium. The games will be broadcast live on 1230 WAKI.
